Medieval suburbs and streets of fashion
Thanks to two important road axes such as Via de' Tornabuoni and Via della Vigna Nuova, this route unwinds through the more known and touristic Florence, as well as the most popular one, which is the Florence of the “suburbs“, or boroughs. Because of the development of the population, these districts were created outside the walls in the year 1000 and they were settlements near the main communication roads.



The Medici routes
This route runs the North Western districts of the city and retraces the places where the influence of the Medici dynasty was very e intense, especially in the ancient villages outside the city walls. In the 400’s-500’s these areas, now incorporated into the city that was increasingly more and more, became the centre of Florence of Medici and the road network developed around the axis between S.Marco, San Lorenzo church and Palazzo Vecchio.
